Custom Made Orthotics

Custom Made Orthotics are individually prescribed and manufactured shoe inserts made of highly durable semi-rigid material to optimize biomechanics and reduce physical stresses associated with daily upright activities, such as walking, standing, and running.

Our Approach

Orthotics are prescribed and custom manufactured based on Biomechanical Gait Analysis related to leisure, sports and work-related activities. By improving biomechanical function, they reduce stresses, improve function, prevent injuries, and improve performance in work and sport specific scenarios.

At Bloor Yonge Chiropractic we also offer ready-to-wear orthotics or other orthopedic supportive devices.

Conditions Treated

Custom Made Orthotics are effective in treatment and prevention of foot, ankle, knee, hip and low back associated pain and conditions such as:
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • Bunions
  • Flat feet
  • Rigid feet
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Arthritis
  • Shin splints
  • IT band syndrome
  • Fat pad syndrome

Our Process

Initial Examination

Based on diagnosis and functional impairments that have been identified from examination, biomechanical gait analysis, computerized scan and foot cast, our Chiropractor will make an individual prescription for custom made orthotics. The prescription is sent to a specialized laboratory to create a customized orthotic device.

Treatment Plan

The Chiropractor will assist patients and guide them through transition and adaptation before, during and after the orthotic device is introduced into their lifestyle. In addition to the introduction of the orthotics, treatment plans may incorporate other therapies, such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage and physiotherapy.

Maintenance

As part of our approach, our practitioners are dedicated to educating and guiding you on how to maintain and improve the achieved results. They will support you on your journey to optimal health by providing counselling and regular follow-up sessions.
