Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that treats a wide range of dysfunctions affecting the musculoskeletal, digestive, circulatory, respiratory and nervous systems.

Our Approach

Osteopathic treatments help the body restore its balance and self-regulating abilities. Strains, stress and dysfunctions are removed when you allow the body to tap into its own healing mechanisms. Osteopaths use a variety of manual techniques to promote this process.

Based on in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology, while focusing on the different rhythms of the body, our Osteopathy practitioners assess every mobility restriction. Then the practitioner restores the joint, cranial, tissue and visceral mobility necessary to regain balance and overcome pain.

At Bloor Yonge Chiropractic, we use a broad range of gentle hands-on techniques, including:

  • Mobilization or manipulation of joints
  • Soft tissue stretching
  • Myofascial release
  • Triger and tender points therapy
  • Muscle energy techniques
  • Cranial-sacral therapy
  • Visceral techniques
  • Exercise for strength and conditioning
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Pelvic floor prolapse therapy

Our Process

Initial Examination

An initial session starts with gathering details of the patient’s health history. After the interview, the patient will be asked to perform a series of simple movements and functional tests to help us analyze mobility and posture.

Treatment Plan

After the assessment, our Osteopathic practitioner will recommend an individualized treatment plan. Treatment plans may also incorporate other therapies, such as chiropractic, acupuncture, physical and massage therapy.

Maintenance

Although many of our patients come to Bloor Yonge Chiropractic to address specific conditions, our team will also assess your overall health and recommend any lifestyle changes. Our treatment plans may emphasize dietary changes, exercise and weight maintenance programs, and nutritional supplements, in addition to osteopathic or other treatments.
