Injury Recovery and Prevention

Our Injury Recovery and Prevention program is focused on injury rehabilitation therapy and is beneficial for anyone who has suffered from a mild or severe injury. Our program is also beneficial for sedentary individuals who would like to become physically active, improve performance or prevent occurrence of injuries.

Conditions Treated

There are typically two types of injuries: Acute injuries and overuse injuries.

The acute injury is usually a result of a single, traumatic event such as a motor vehicle accident, physical blow to the body, or a severe fall.

The overuse injury tends to develop over a long period of time and is the result of repetitive trauma from things like workplace tasks and sports activities.

Common injuries are:
  • Muscle strain
  • Joint sprain
  • Disc herniation
  • Injury to the nerve
  • Meniscal tear
  • Head trauma
  • Whiplash
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Degenerative conditions of muscle, joint or nerve
  • Postural disorders
  • Pregnancy related injuries

Our Approach

Healing from an injury can be a long and difficult journey. Rehabilitation involves a series of steps that must be taken on the road to recovery:
  • Acute Phase of Treatment

Immediately following the injury, pain, weakness, inflammation or swelling are often the biggest concerns. The focus is on reducing inflammation and pain, which can be done by physical therapy, acupuncture, spinal manipulation, as well as education on proper self-care.

  • Functional Phase of treatment

In this phase we focus on breaking down scar tissue, restoring function of joints and activation patterns of muscles.

  • Conditioning Phase

Restoring tissue tolerance to repetitive and strenuous loads of the injured area becomes top priority. A qualified professional will develop a program that best suits you based on your lifestyle requirements to optimize a safe return to your activities.

Depending on the type of injury, we will develop a customized program that is unique to your needs. Your Rehabilitation program may consist of the following therapies:
  • Chiropractic Care

Relieves tension, restores joint mobility, breaks down scar tissue and reduces inflammation through manual manipulation of joints and soft tissues

  • Massage Therapy

Relieves tension, breaks down scar tissue and reduces swelling through strategic massage of involved tissue

  • Acupuncture

Improves vascular and synovial fluid circulation and stimulates the nervous system/p>

  • Stability Training

Helps regain static and dynamic functional stability and restores strength and endurance to return to pre-injury activities and prevent re-injury.

  • Shockwave

Breaks down scar tissue, reduces inflammation and stimulates tissue healing

  • Ergonomics

Optimizes a workstation and perfects exercise techniques to avoid re-injury and speed up return to activities

  • Continuous Passive Motion

Uses a special CPM device to move the injured joints through a controlled range of motion to speed up healing and prevent scar tissue development

Our Process

Initial Assessment

Patients will undergo an initial physical assessment by our Clinic Director Dr. Igor Sapozhnikov, D.C. or Dr. Isaac Norman, D.C. to help better understand, analyze and determine the type of injury. Patients will also have an opportunity to discuss their other health concerns.

Program Plan

Based on the assessment results, the Doctor will recommend an individualized program plan that may include chiropractic treatments, spinal decompression, shockwave, stability training and/or other modes of therapy that promote injury recovery and prevention.
